WALKING WITH THE LORD

INTRODUCTION

Rev Ed Arcton. Apostle and Pastor

Ed Arcton, is my name, I was born in the city of Accra. I am second son among four siblings. Saltpond near Cape Coast is my hometown in Ghana. I am blessed together with my family and presently resident in City of Accra, Ghana.

EARLY BEGINNING AND CONVERSION.

My walk and fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ started in 1970. As a young boy I gave my life completely to Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. I went through Christian discipleship and was mentored by Mr. Godfred Bobby who worked professional as a Medical Hematologist at our main Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. My Missionary and Pastoral training started in the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Ghana, where I was trained as a Child Evangelist and Sunday School Teacher of the Methodist Church.

As a student , I was member of the Scripture Union (SU), and played a leading role in the SU in reaching out to other students in other Secondary Schools and Colleges in the city and beyond, together with my colleagues. Today, most of us are Ministers of the Gospel. I give thanks to God for His faithfulness in my life. Even though born into the Methodist Church, I had a lot of grounding in the Christian faith when I started to worship with the Baptist Church during my Secondary School Days because of their emphasis on teachings of the Holy Scriptures, developing personal Bible Study, prayer life and devotion to God.

CALLING INTO MINISTRY AND TRAINING

After completion of my Education in Engineering Science in 1980, I felt the Lord’s calling into full time Ministry. I choose to work with the Christian Fellowship and Scriptural Union (SU) for a while. I was the Prayer Secretary for the Community (Kaneshie) Christian Fellowship at that time, also became the leader of Youth Ministry by name Youth Club for Jesus. Zealous and committed to the service of God, I assisted other foreign Missionaries to plant and establish the Foursquare Gospel Church (Headquarters Branch) and the Assemblies of God Church, North Kaneshie, Accra, Ghana.

In 1982, after recommendation from other Church Leadership, Pastors and my Mentor especially, I sought admission into the Bible College (Maranatha University College) for proper training and completed in 1986. From there I found myself working with different Christian Organizations in Missions, Research, Pastoral Work and Church Planting. Three years later in August 1989, I was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel at Community Worship Church. The gifts of the Holy Spirit and the calling of God were evident in my life. I believe the Lord has called me into the Pastoral Ministry with a burden to bring Revival into our Churches and communities, promoting missionary work in an unreached peoples group in our nation and beyond. God is using me to provide and to promote Leadership training and prayer ministry among in the Body of Christ.

MISSIONARY JOURNEY

While working with other Christian organization, and Pasturing the Local Church, the Lord used me, to establish the Liberation Mission for Christ, which began as a “youth movement for missions, primarily for evangelism, disciple making and church planting. Presently I serve as the President of the Mission.

It was through this organization, supported by the Local Church that I launched out into church planting along the coastal areas of the Central Region of Ghana. Even though young at that time and majority of my team were also young, God used us to begin missionary work among the unreached people and planted local churches in the villages and towns along the coast. Today these areas are no more villages but have developed into modern towns. The Churches God used me and my colleagues to plant are still alive and growing under able leadership and seasoned Pastors from other local Churches and others from the Ghana Baptist Convention Churches. When I look back and see the growth and multiplication of the churches I give thanks, praised and glory unto God for his faithfulness.

FURTHER STUDIES AT CLI

After my graduation from the Bible College in 1986, I planned furthering my studies but this dream never materialized as I expected but God who answers all prayers, one day led me to browse into Christian Leaders Institute website. I was reluctant to give a serious attention to it but there was an inner edge to apply, which I did on second thought. It was later that I began to experience an inner peace, knowing I am at home with CLI and can pursue further studies with CLI. God gave me great grace which helped me to begin my study program with CLI and it was done through commitment and perseverance.

CLI offered me an excellent Biblical education far beyond expectation. One important thing I am blessed with is the Exegesis and Exposition of the Holy Scripture and the emphasis CLI placed on family values, holiness of life and Love of God. Indeed I am grateful to the Lord, who directs our path, our life and never make mistakes. Knowing the worth of CLI and the difference it made in my life, I have recommended and encouraged other Ministers of the Gospel to enroll in the CLI study Programs. It’s worth studying at the Christian Leaders Institute; it is not a wasted time but an investment into the future.

ORDINATION

By the grace of God, I have also had the privileged to be ordained into the family of Christian Leaders Alliance. To me this second ordination is so important because it brings along more responsibility, accountability and expands the scope of my calling and service to other areas which I have previously not considered. With such holistic training I have received from CLI, I believe I am more equipped and prepared for the task ahead of me.

MISSION FIELD

Presently I am working among a village community by name Awomberew Village in the Central Region of Ghana. I and my team have started evangelism, church planting and Leadership training program to make more disciples to build the Baptist Church in the Community. This village has its root and background from Fetishism form of worship and have adopted Pentecostal mode of worship but in actual fact they can be describe as one of the African Traditional Religion (ATR) and deep into spiritism. Majority of the inhabitant in this village cannot speak English language; the best medium of communication is in the local language called (Fanti and Afutu) which in my opinion is very effective in soul winning because it helps them to fully understand the scripture in their own mother tongue during our Bible Study hour. I am in this village with a team committed to break new grounds and well prepare for missionary work. There have been a lot of impart of our work in this village and its surrounding villages, nonetheless more work is needed here in evangelism and discipleship. I have also seen some fetish worshipers who through our evangelism have now accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. They are now committed to the Baptist Church. REVIVAL

By the Grace of God he has also opened for me doors into many local churches in our cities to preach and teach the Word of God and make disciples for Christ Jesus. My aim is to bring Revival into the Churches in our communities and beyond. Worldliness, materialism, and spiritual filthiness have taken over the Churches of today. The saying is true “any church that fails and refuses to reach out in evangelism and missionary work among her neighbors and community need to be reach in by other believers”. I see the need of divine intervention and I sincerely pray for visitation of God upon our local churches once again for Revival, the need for another outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our churches and the Land of our birth, to purge the church from sin and evil works. My prayer is that God will prepare and raise up new generation of Christian leaders, committed to preach and teach the holistic gospel, the unadulterated Word of God in our generation and beyond. We need another revival that will shake the foundation of the church to take the Gospel into the villages, towns and nations. I stand for Holy Ghost Revival. Pursuing degree programs with CLC is worth, because it’s equip you better than before and as well put you in a better position to be effectively use of God to doing an extraordinary great things. Christian Leaders College opens the door and prepares men and women, and empowers them with Biblical truth to fulfill this assignment in our time and age. I am happy to be a student and graduate of CLC and I give thanks to the Almighty God for the birth and vision of CLC.  To know more about Ed Arcton Click here

 MY GOALS

My goal is to be a faithful WITNESS both by Word and Life to lead as many as I can to the saving knowledge of Christ where ever I am. It’s my passion and trust to see this dream done and done well.

My goal is to be a faithful SERVANT of Christ Jesus, to be a servant leader in the hands of our God to serve the Church faithfully to the end in my days and generation. I have learnt throughout the years that to be successful is a good thing but God requires us to be faithful to the end. Good success comes only from the Lord. (Joshua 1:8)

My goal is to fulfill my God given ASSIGNMENT on Earth. I have also learnt that God is not interested in our ability even though is a blessing to have several ability; God is interested in our availability, to use us for his own purpose and glory.

The key scripture passages that keeps me on focus is what I believe the Holy Spirit planted inside my life when He called me into His service are in the words of the Apostle Paul when he gave these instruction  to Timothy his Son ….. This found in;

1 Timothy 1:12, “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;”

1 Timothy 2:7, “Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, [and] lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity”.

2 Timothy 1:11. Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.”

It’s the same Scripture text,  I derive my strength and encouragement in the work I do for the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.

 PRAYER

I humbly ask you to pray for me, my family and work the Lord has entrusted into my hand. Pray also for Land of my birth, the nation Ghana and the Church, and finally pray for the harvest of Souls in the Land of Africa. You’re always in my prayers every day.
